When the game is on the line, how do you respond? There have been times when my response has been the right one and then there are the other times. [Read more…]

Saturday Afternoon

Two schools that are less than two miles away from each other on Atlantic Boulevard in Jacksonville travelled to St. John’s County to face off at Creekside High School in high school baseball tournament action this afternoon. Bishop Kenny played Episcopal on a sunny, but very windy spring afternoon.

More Diamond News

Another night at the diamond and another victory for Bishop Kenny. This time over Englewood by a margin of 13-3. In the photo, second baseman Scott Fjelstad goes after a ball in foul territory in the 5th inning while first baseman Jake Stipe looks on. No catch, but a great effort.

June 11, 2009 – San Jose Country Pool Cats Team and Individual Photo Day

The Big Team

The Guppies

June 11 was Team and Individual photo day for the San Jose Country Club Pool Cats of the River City Swim League. I also stayed around to take some action photos of their meet against the Spartan Aquatic Club. It was an enjoyable day poolside at San Jose Country Club visiting with the swimmers, coaches and parents. The photos from the day may be viewed here.

June 9th, 2009 USA All the Way!

University Swim Association

Today was a team and individual shoot day for a local summer swim team in the River City Swim League, the University Swim Association Stingrays. Team photo day is always a blast because I get to meet lots of new folks and get reaquainted with some old friends. This was the team that my kids swam on for many summers and I volunteered for as a timekeeper, starter and photographer. Time flies as now my oldest daughter coaches the team and is having a great time sharing her knowledge and motivating another generation of swimmers. Fun stuff. USA fans you may preview your photos here.

June 1, 2009 – North Florida Notre Dame Club

On Monday June 1st, I was privileged to be invited by the North Florida Notre Dame Club to photograph their dinner celebrating UND Night with the Fighting Irish’s own head ball coach, Charlie Weis. The club was honored to host Coach Weis in recognition of their status as an outstanding C Club by the Notre Dame Alumni Association. Coach provided insights into how the team prepares for the season from the start of spring practice until the season gets underway and responded to questions from the audience. It was a fine evening with a silent auction and the raffling of tickets to the USC game with the proceeds going to area charities that the club supports.

January 14, 2009 – Action

Point and Shoot tennis action.

I ventured out onto the tennis courts this afternoon where some friends were playing. I’ve never thought about shooting action sports with the G9. I got out the camera and after some trial and error shots learning the focus delay and shutter lag, came up with this. I have cameras and glass that are more than capable of pulling off this shot very easily, but I really enjoyed the challenge of getting a decent shot with the P & S. Challenge yourself and you never know what that challenge may produce!
