"I must be in the front row!" - Bob Uecker

This is my second desk at the scorer's table in the Bishop Kenny gym. Bob Uecker described this seat best when he said, "I must be in the front row!"

I really believe that being involved in your community is important to your success in your chosen profession. Today’s  image is a representation of one way that I am involved in my community. You see, I am the scoreboard operator and announcer (some people jokingly refer to me as the Voice of the Crusaders!) for Bishop Kenny High School. I do have a front row seat for each home hoops game and the tools of my trade are represented in this image. And yes, I am fueled by Diet Coke to keep my whistle wet and caffeine levels appropriate. Otherwise, it is the clock control unit, my stat sheets and of course, the microphone that helps me to fire up the crowd and let them know what is going on. I have a blast doing this and may not ever give up this seat! This is one way I give back to my community and it has been very rewarding personally and professionally. “Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere come the Crusaders!”
